The largest area in North America, Canada is the second largest country in the world, second only to Russia; it is the fourth largest in the world in terms of land area alone. Split into 10 provinces and 3 territories, Canada's capital is Ottawa, and its three largest metropolitan areas are Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

It ranks among the highest in international measurements of government transparency, civil liberties, quality of life, economic freedom, and education. It is one of the world's most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations, the product of large-scale immigration from many other countries.

Climate

Canada’s seasons are distinct, with large differences in temperature and weather across provinces. In winter, the temperature on the west coast is milder, and there is very little snow in Vancouver. The temperature on the east coast is colder, and in winter, snow in Toronto is fairly heavy.
